| The streets were empty, barren and quiet. Trash liter blew around the sidewalk with the gentle breeze. Newspapers from eons ago. Bold print proclaiming the dead walks. They couldn't' get the news out fast enough before the world was slowly dying in it's grasp. That was then. This was now. Julie sat up and rubbed her eyes. She stretched and yawned. Her long legs dangled lazily over the side of her gourney. Well, her bed. She sat up in her stretcher and looked around the back of the ambulance that he become not only her wheels but her camp on wheels.
She supposed today was just like any other. Survive and try not to die, but something about this morning made her smile. The sunlight invaded through the tinted windows warming her skin a little. Somehow today just seemed.... Hopeful. Not that everyday wasn't like that to some degree. Julie was what you would call a die hard optimist. It was one of the things that drove her brother crazy.
She didn't think about Lane much anymore. Once upon a time he would enter her thoughts everyday now, it was only in passing. Time heals all and though she didn't believe that he was dead she didn't think she would ever see him again. But somehow it was still comforting to think that he could be out there surviving. Julie pushed opened the back doors and hopped out onto the sun parched concrete outside. She was parked along side a shopping mall. Despite her optimistic nature she wasn't overly optimistic about scavenging after dark.
Still the mall was a pretty good find. She thought that maybe a lot of it went untouched. There was literal rivers of dried blood in the parking lot. Maybe this place had been too over run to pick clean for a long time. Well, she hoped so anyways. Julie turned around and brushing the bangs out of her face she tucked them behind her ear. Pushing her glasses up further on her nose Julie wrinkled her nose and fought back a sneeze.
She frowned. A look of deep concentration settled over her features. She must be getting a cold. She had been sneezing a lot lately. A cold wasn't so bad if you kept it in check, but it could also kill you if you weren't careful now days. Maybe the mall would have some medicine. There was bound to be some kind of first aid kit supplies in the security office maybe? She bit her lip and chewed on it a bit thinking about the unlikelyhood of this. Either way she had nothing better to do than check. And as dumb as it sounded. Julie had actually made off with this ambulance on outbreak day. Although unfortunately she had grabbed a bus that hadn't been recently stocked so her medical supplies were superfictial at best.
Slinging her pack over her shoulder Julie closed the back doors. She grabbed her revolver and pushed it into the holster that hung slanted on her hip. Her tan legs creeping out of a pair of cut off shorts and leading all the way down to a dirty pink and white pair of new balance sneakers. Her pink tank top was already showing sweat stains and it was only 9 in the morning or somewhere around that time. Julie pulled her hair into a ponytail and began to jog her way over to the front doors. She saw no dead ones by the door. Though there was almost certainly some inside.
The door was surprisingly hard to open. It had been jammed with corpses. The kind with head injuries who didn't rouse and flail. Squeezing through the crack she was greeted by a great empty lobby with dead escalators. She could almost imagine a slow droning elevator music running throughout the mall. The first few stores she saw on the left were the GAP, some kind of jewerly store, and a hallmark. On the right was a lady's foot locker, a gamestop, and a spencer's gifts. She frowned again, though looking down at her worn out shoes she supposed some new walkers were in order.
Since the moment she had entered though mall; however, she had felt like she was being watched. The feeling seemed to crawl all over her skin and burrow deep into her mind. She tried to ignore it. She didn't' see anyone when she looked around. It seemed ilke the mall was just empty. Abandoned when things turned bad. Heck most of the stores weren't even locked with the rolling shutters secured in the down position. Julie went to foot locker and found a new pair of nikes. They were all white and she wondered how long they would stay that way. 20 minutes?
Moving along she felt like she was in a dream. Still that feeling of being watched remained. It was growing stronger. She was clumsy and nieve but instincts HAD kept her alive this long. She knew when to be worried and when to not be. She could sense someone behind her now, just over her right shoulder and hiding in the shadows. Assessing her. She bit her lip. She had on some new nikes she could "just do it" and get the heck out of here, but she seemed frozen in place.
"Oh come'mon girly you're being right stupid." She scolded herself under her breath. Without thinking she whirled around. And the figure slunk back further into the shadows but it was low. Very low, it was..... A dog? She was almost sure she had seen a dog. Feeling less scared now but still cautious she knelt and pulled her pack off. Opening up she got some crackers out and held them out. "Hey there honey. It's okay." She coaxed. At first there was nothing.
After a few moments a graying muzzle came into the morning light. Particles of dust floated this way and that, lazily spinning through the sunbeams of a forgotten world. The dogs eyes were narrowed and suspicious, but willing to try. It's head was low and it moved with a slight limp. Not from a current injury but rather an old one that healed poorly. It took one step, then another... Crossing the food court until it was in front of the stranger. "That's right." Julie said smiling. She was happy to see a friendly face. Even if it was covered in fur.
The dog took the crackers after only a moment of debate weather they were okay or not. Julie let out a little laugh as she watched it lick the crumbs off the floor. "Must've been hungry huh?" She said matter of factly. She reached in her bag and pulled out the last of her crackers, the last of her food really. She handed them over without a second thought. But that was Julie through and through. No thought for herself if she could do for someone else. She stared at the dog. The dog stared at her. She pet it on the head. The dog looked back. "Pepper." She read off the dog's hanging collar.
The dog was still looking at her with that head cocked to the side way. That didn't clear up much, but after a quick glance between it's legs she saw that Pepper was a girl. "Well, you just'a good girl ain'tcha?" Julie remarked. She got a few very tired, but enthusiastic licks in return and Julie laughed again. The laugh died in her throat when she heard a scream somewhere deeper in the mall and a few loud bangs. Pepper looked worriedly at Julie and retreated back a few steps. Julie looked around. Her hair whipped over her tan shoulders as she did.
"We gotta help'em girl." Julie said quietly. The dog whimpered but didn't seem to want to leave Julie's side. "Don't worry girl. I ain't gone let nothing happen to you." She promised scratching behind the dog's ears. She had just made a friend and had no intention of seeing something bad happen to them. Julie took off at a full run when the scream cut out again. Towards the sound of the scream. She was relieved to hear the clicking of dog's nails on the tile beside her. Pepper seemed to be getting on in years but she could keep up. That was good.
In this world you had to keep up. Julie slide to a stop when she saw a cigar shop at the end of the mall's hallway. The shutter was down and there was a hoard of the dead ones pulled up against it. Must've been a few dozen. She only had 3 shots in her revolver. That wasn't going to do much even if all of them lined up right in a row she didn't have enough to take them out.
"Thank (think) girl!" She told herself. Biting her lip again without knowing it Julie looked around. Her eyebrow raised when she saw a red Escalade parked in the mall. It was sanctioned off with red velvet ropes. One of those enter this contest and win this car kinda things that were always in the malls. beside it was a box you could fill out your information and hope to enter to win. Julie laughed out loud when she found the door was unlocked. In case people entering the contest wanted to see the inside she supposed.
Julie slipped herself into the driver's seat. She immediately started to hotwire the car. Another thing she was thankful for Lane teaching her. Pepper sat outside the car looking up at her and whimpering. Julie looked at Pepper and rolled the window down when the car erupted to life. "Can't leave them girl. They might need my help. Stay. I'll clear em out." The dog barked as if to agree, but then whined as if to protest. Julie put the car in drive with no real plan and put on her seatbelt. Aiming the car at the horde like a missle she stomped on the gas. "Frick!" She shouted as the car collided with a thump against cold bodies that cracked like kindling. There was several more thuds as a crack spread through the windshield.
Before she knew it she was smashing into the wall. She didn't take out all of them. Most but there was still four or five that lumbered around. Julie's head was on the steering wheel. The horn was blaring and fire spread under the hood. Dead hands reached through the broken window of the passenger's side. The driver's side was right up against the roll down lock gate of the cigar shop. It couldn't quite reach her, and Julie could hear barking a thousand miles away before blacking out. "Pepper no.." She moaned weakly. Pepper was busy tearing at the legs of the few standing dead.

It was shit before and it all just became a new version of same shit different day. The truth was he was a man who could've had the world at his feet. Okay so technically he had power but not in the way that someone of his standing normally would. Born with a silver spoon in had and a xanax prescription. If he had followed the path that had been meant for him. Hell he would be no different then half these bastards stumbling around. His family came from old southern money and that money gave him all the connections in the world.
Had it not come to a faithful day and a run in while he was partying and dealing Detroit. That's when the tormented soul found a group of degenerates that finally made him feel at home. The Fools Dice club would become his home and adopted family. William had a knack for money and business so his fathers connections came in handy. Made him one of the bigger earners in the club though he really just had a knack for breaking bones. The Jacket that had stayed glued to his shoulders had a patch. Stitched in was the phrase 'Lead Enforcer' was a badge of honor.
Not that it really meant shit these blood stained foul smelling days. It had been months since he had gotten separated from Johnny and Lulu. He made sure they had gotten out of the city but when if came to the final stretch he drew the dead away. Hoping to give his bosses and their kid a fair chance to get to safety. Last he knew they were alive and safe but who knew where they ended up. William wasnt holding hope for some fancy reunion with parties and drinks. Truth was he had his own bets on who made it to the bunker.
Worst to say it was only a handful of his brothers he believed had the scruff for it. None of it really mattered now because he didn't have a hurry to rush to what could be a bunker of his expired family. He had headed off to find his sister who had vanished with shit hit the fan. He believed that she was with one of the fools but he couldn't be sure. William was certain she was alive by the training he had given her and the stubbornness of the pope blood would keep her going. Recently he had been shacking up in a local police department ironically of all places.
Best score was the stash of drugs in the evidence lock up as well as the back up generators that gave him access to power and running water. Though that sweet spot had run out of power and it was time to move on. He had gathered enough gas to keep him going for a while so he loaded his truck. Before hitting the road he decided to go on run. Hitting a few local shops he was just about ready to call it deuces to this dead end town. Until he tripped the one last working silent alarm and drew in a large amount of the biters attention.
With bags on his shoulders he had guns in hand as he started Blasting away. Body after body fell but what he didn't expect was the sound of a approaching engine. Hell he barely had a chance to react other than jumping out of the way. In just moments the sound of metal crunching against a building. His expression was somewhere between vacant and mildly annoyed that some dumbass nearly ran him down. The sound of a dog bark and a voice he would move towards the vehicle. He didnt give a shit who was driving but they may have supplies he got nab. Stepping around the car he found a dog dodging swipes of the dead so he raised his weapon and put slugs into the dead.
The bodies fell and the dog just stared at him nd he moved past to check the inside of the car. Inside nearly being grabbed by the hungry hands of the rotten flesh fiends. He went to reach in the car and pull the woman out but the dog would growl at him lowly. "Shut it shithead or Barbie can be ground meat." He would mutter as he released her seat belt. Pulling the bombshell out of the car he would toss her over his shoulder. "Damn girl you should lay off the junk food." He would mutter as he carried his haul and this knocked out chic back to the police department.
Inside he would toss her into a cell on a bed. The dog ran in to check on the slumped over woman and he pulled the cell bar door shut. Locking it he would pull a seat to the desk. He needed to know if she had friends and possible supplies to steal before he went on his way. though while he waited he would pour some white powder on the desk and indulge to kill time waiting for her to come to. Julie Archer [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog The first thing Julie noticed was the lights over head. It had been awhile since she had been in a place with running power. The flurescent lights gave off a whinning little buzz. For a moment as her eyes cracked open she thought the buzz was only in her head. Her head was really smarting. Blood was dried on her forehead from where it collided with the steering wheel.
The world swam into focus in stuttering waves. First a little and then a lot. Almost too much detail for her to take in at once and the sharp clarity made her want to double over and give up her breakfast. "Oh lordy." She whispered rolling over to her side. She blinked a few times when she saw there was a dog staring at her. A dog she did not remember, but then it came to her. "Hey Pepper you made it." She smiled. It was warm on her cheeks, and beautiful on her face.
She had the kind of smile that could made you want to smile for no reason. With dimples that seemed to hold it up at the corners. Though smiling now caused another rack of pain and it quickly turned into a grimace. Julie looked beyond the dog and realized she was behind bars. She bellowed. Staggering to her feet she clumsily lunged at the bars. Grasping hold of them she pressed her face against them trying to figure out what happened.
Jullie was everything you would expect in a helpless damsell in distress. But honestly she was more equipped for this world than most. She was an EMT before this so she had some medical training, not to mention her brother Lane, the criminal had taught her so many interesting things before the world collapsed. He taught her how to con a mark and how to hotwire a car, he taught her how to bribe a judge and how to pick a lock. Julie could see a man sitting in a chair just across from her. He seemed distracted with his drugs.
As an EMT she had met many who were addicts. She couldn't tell if this one was or not, but he wasn't paying attention to her now. She pulled the bobby pin out of her ponytail and let her hair fall around her shoulders. Reaching through the bars she made quick work of the lock. The door swung open as if it were unlocked the whole time. Julie had her best 'im pissed mister' face on. At best she looked like a child who was told she couldn't go on the class field trip.
"Just who in the heck do you thank you are?" She asked. Beside her Pepper barked as if to say 'yeah! who do you think you are?' Julie had her arms crossed around her chest. This idiot had put her in the cell and hadn't even bothered to take her gun off her holster. She could have shot him, but that wasn't who she was. She wanted answers. "This is the thanks i get for savin your sorry behind in the mall?" She crinkled her nose.
Wait, was this the guy from the mall? She hit the wall but that's all she remembered. Still, Lane had also taught her to keep a poker face. She stared at the guy with a i don't take no shit stare, but even though her arms wer crossed her legs were shaky and threatening to give up the facade, he knees wanted to come unhinged. Pepper walked out of the cell and stood beside her. Already ready to defend her. She felt good about that. Even if this guy had no manners at least some folks were grateful. LAIKA OF THQ

it was the one thing William never did in moderation. Plenty of times he had been drug home from some drug binge after disapearing for days to weeks. Lulu and Johnny were family and they took Williams flawed addiction as a price to pay for a loyal soldier. Always so very understanding of the demons the cold and shut off man seemed to face alone. Then again who were they really to judge given their past and their own vices. Somethings would never change and letting a simple apocalypse was not his style. [break][break] Life for the fools was always living in the fast lane. They were known for their ballsy moves when it came to wiping out competition. Not much had changed other than the competition being out for their litteral throats. He was very much enjoying his buzz and not really expecting the little blonde bunny to have anything up her sleeve. [break][break] His attention turned up when the cell door creaked open and suddenly he had a fiery little blonde lecturing him. There was the dog standing to her side like he wasnt in threat of being punted accross the room. William just kinda stared at the cute little barbie doll as she ranted and raved. Honestly he didnt hear what she was saying as his eyes more so moved over the curves of her body. [break][break] Though when she mentioned 'saving' him he would stand up and with a deep laugh coming from his lungs. "Eyy calm yo self shorty, Maybe use that fire to work on yo driving skills.Nearly ran my ass down before forgetting walls dont budge." He would smirk at her as he calmed his composure and started walking circles around her and the mangy mutt. [break][break] "So you got a name beautiful?" William would ask as he went in circles around her. he did admit she was the prettiest little thing he had seen in some time. The way her nose scrunched when she was mad just made him was to push more buttons. "You traveling alone? Kinda dangerous out here some someone so sweet lookin."

Ju [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog Julie actually braced herself when he started walking circles around her. He was inebriated. That much was obvious. She had dealt with it before on EMT calls to some frat house that was always causing trouble. She got the "Hey Babies" and the "Ain't you cute?" lines all the time. Or at least she used too. That seemed so long ago. Now, despite the somewhat rapey vibes of him stalking circles around her and eyeing her like a piece of meat, she felt he was mostly harmless. Certainly she could take him. Julie was surprisingly good at hand to hand altercations. Lane made sure she could protect herself.
She never knew what exactly Lane was trying to prepare her for, but it was obvious he wanted her to be as degenerate as him, with the skills he had passed along to her. She was a good person. She generally gave people the benefit of the doubt. With her arms still crossed against her chest she thought about shoving the asshole. On one of his passes behind her just shove him backwards into the cell and slam the door. Let him sober up in there. She rolled her eyes. He was ungrateful, rude, presumptious, and arrogant. The sad part was he thought he was being charming.
Why the hell am I smiling? She thought, the smile quickly disappeared as if there was a reason to feel guilty about it. Pepper just stood there and watched. She let out a little whine as if to say, oh brother, you're both a bit strange aren't you? Julie actually raised an eyebrow. Not satisfied to sit while he stalked Julie moved over to the desk. She slid up on top of it, pushing her back against the edge and hoisting herself up. Power smeared her jeans and stained her creamy thighs. She gave him her best let's cut the bullshit look. "I ain't a shorty. Whatever that is. I'm Julie. And you are rude." Pepper looked back at William as if understanding this dialouge and wanting to see a reaction.
"Can't do thangs without people anymore. Looks to me like you can't do much of anythang, except pound ya chest. I could just leave ya know. Easiest thang in the world, but wouldn't be proper. My mama taught me to help folks when they were in trouble. Mister. You look like trouble personified." She didn't exactly pitty him. And to be honest he wasn't bad looking, but part of her heart just missed having someone to talk too. And she had already decided this one wasn't dangerous. Maybe a little stupid, but that could be worked on. It was clear he wasn't used to people either. His social skill must've just crumbled a little faster than hers.
Julie had completely disregarded all that you shouldn't be traveling alone in the big bad world stuff. She was also raised not to depend on a man. She wouldn't consider herself a feminist, just capable and strong. She crinkled her nose. Her arms were crossing her chest again and she curled her lip to blow long blonde bangs out of her face. "I was headed to get some supplies as I headed east. You're welcome to tagga long, iff'n you want some company." She smiled and winked at him. It was an actual flirtatious smile. What the hell. He was cute and maybe cute and dumb could work. This was the first time she wasn't bored or lonely in a while.. LAIKA OF THQ

Despite the size difference between the girl and the man was quite noticable. He towered over her easily and his posture was that of intimidation. Though this woman didnt seem to budge. Instead she just watched him move around her as she seemed to call his bluster. She would move towards the desk as just as soon as she faced him he watched hr push up on the desk. [break][break] He could see clouds from some of the powder raise into the air. Normally he would be mad but his mind was more focused on was now stained flawless skin. His gaze had moved over her knees and he could see the curve of a very perfect ass peeking at him from the short cutoffs. Thighs so smooth the practically welcomed him in and drew him forward. [break][break] Honestly he hadnt even heard her start talking again. He had stalked forward and found himself stepping between those so very perfect Legs. Sure William was a very smart and calculating man but he had a few weaknesses. Drugs and liquor he had a easy time finding but such a perfect feiry woman. That was something that made him drop his gaurd more than enough. [break][break] "Not sure about east Shorty but I know a place with good supplies, power, hot water and a fuel supply. Perhaps we can come to a agreement we both find... pleasurable." There was a smirk on his lips as his hands rested on each side of her. Leaning on his arms he got a bit closer to her. His lips by her ear as he paused. "You can keep me out of trouble since I'm so helpless with out you." [break][break] Pulling away from her he would use what restraint he could muster. Truth was as much as he wanted to unwrap this little present. There was plenty of time when they were in a safer place. This girl was a little different than his normal conquest. Those girls were easy and fell for his shit. Fed his ego and swooned any time but this one wasnt really buying it. She was cute in a country bumpkin sorta way and he was definitely wanting to see where this went.

Ju [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog Julie pushed her way past William without giving him a second thought of consideration. She didn't do this out of rudness or to prove a point. In this regard she simply felt satisfied that he would tag along and she was trying to figure out what to do next. "By the way...Just where in the hell are we?" It was impossible to keep the country twang out of her voice. She had a cowgirl hat on her head for christ's sakes.
It was as much a part of her as her dimples or her blonde hair. She looked around with her hands on her hips. Julie was not in fact aware of how much her ass hung out of her shorts. She had never really considered it really. They were comfortable. Texas was hotter than hell. It made sense.
She certainly wasn't inviting attention to her legs. She just didn't care enough to consider it. She stood now with her feet slightly apart and her hands firmly on her hips in a "i can do this." Stance and she was surveying her surroundings. Really she was seeing if there waas anything she could use in this room before she disregarded it forever and moved on with her life. You never really realize how every new room you come across is only important now days in terms of what kind of stuff is hiding in it.
She supposed she was like a bird looking for shiny objects but that was scavenging. Julie found a roll of duct tape and slid it over her wrist. Duct tape is ALWAYS helpful. She didn't get an immideate response to her question and quickly realized he was looking at her ass.
"Right. Well honey, you just enjoy the view back there, Ima get stuff done." She said rolling her eyes. Her back was too him and she felt safe enough to let a 'not undelighted' smile spread across her face. It did feel good to be looked at in that way. No matter what anyone said, people crave physical intamacy. But now wasn't the time or the place for tall dark, kinda cute and slightly dumb. Outside wherever they were there was an engine sound and a loud crash. Julie was momentarily distracted from her search.
"You hear somethang?" She asked. Her head was still ringing a bit, but she was also halfway in the middle of her i can do this demonstration. She wanted to show that she was in charge just so things didn't get off on the wrong foot. She never would consider herself the leader type, but she definitely wanted to establish early that she was the one making the choices.
Mama didn't raise no dummy either. I miss you mama. She thought for a moment in odd sadness. There for a second as her face faded from her mind. Under the desk she found a fully loaded magazine. She didn't have a gun for this ammo but she tucked in in ther back shorts pocket just the same. LAIKA OF THQ

It was surely cute the way she would shove past him in her small stature. He just smirked as he watched her move for a moment because it sure was a nice sight to see her go around. The girl sure had alot of attitude and bravodo considering she didnt know whom she was in the room with. The Blood on this mans hands that could drown you. [break][break] Still he did think it was cute seeing her move all over the place. She was scavenging a room he had already picked clean of the more useful items. All this time he really hadnt even heard that she had spoken to him in the first place. It had been some time since he was around anyone so to say his people skills were rusty was an understatement. [break][break] Add the fact that it was a cute bombshell blonde with her ass falling out of her shorts. His mind wasnt exactly focusing on higher functions for the moment. When she spoke again she caught his attention with her comment. Chuckling to himself he would get to moving and grab the last two bags of supplies to take to his truck. [break][break] For a moment he had a fleeting thought of stopping to get this one a dallas cowboy cheerleader outfit. All that pep would surely come in handy when she was bent over the bed with a cheer skirt around her waist. Shaking his head he would put those thoughts on hold as he heard the crash. [break][break] Pulling a revolver from a holster under his jacket he swung the bags straps over his shoulder. "Time to get moving boss." There was a bit of sarcasm in his voice but she did kinda remind him of Lulu's fire. It was a trait that made the guys all admire the boss lady. [break][break] "Stay behind me." He spoke in a low tone as they headed out into the bright daylight. The sun was mid peak in the sky and baking down. As his vision cleared he heard a engine noise. Raising the gun as a vehicle came to a stop. He was greeted by 3 people getting out of an army Humvee. All of them with weapons raised as they approached the civilians.

Ju [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog Julie was headstrong and stubborn. She was clumsy, sensable, compassionate, but one thing she wasn't was gullible. She knew for the most part when someone was pulling her leg. She didn't think for a second that every person she would come across on the road would be good honest people.
Plenty of people have already proved her wrong about that. Some people were just bad. Other people had lost their minds out here. Like that nut she had run into back in Waco. The guy with the blow up doll and the sweet ride. Julie wanted to believe there was good in people. And even the ones that acted like assholes she still gave them a chance to prove her wrong
. She gave people too many chances. Because though she wasn't foolish, she was optimistic. Julie never the less pulled her revolver the same time William did. Her eyes met with his for a second when he called her the boss. She's not ashamed to admit a little smile crossed her lips. It felt good to be acknowledged. Maybe this guy wasn't such a jock after all. She felt a growing warmth for him as she watched him grab the back. They had just met, but now they were riding into battle together like two hombres who caught wind of bad tumbleweeds blowing into town. It reminded Julie briefly of her niece and this video game she used to play called red dead recollection or something like that. She couldn't honestly recall the name ironically enough.
She nodded at William and followed him out. He told her to stand behind him. She stood beside him. As equals. Not in some bratty show of i'm the boss. Nothing like that. Julie was stubborn but not boarish. She wanted to show William that she could have his back too. She was strong and capable. And he didn't need to force her into this damsel in distress role.
She found herself in plenty of distress, being clumsy will do that. But up until this point she had always been strong enough to get herself out of trouble. Her brother Lane had saw to that. What she once thought of as useless training in the ways of being a theif and a con man turned out to be the best thing he could have ever done for her. It bothered her that she didn't know if he was alive or dead. Or if she'd ever see him again. The sun was fading across the horizontal sky. Deep reds and purples kissed the gleam on the humvees hood. Julie put her bottom lip over her top one and blew a burst of air that shot the bangs out of her face. Her nose twitched but her eyes were icy fire. She was actually scared, but you wouldn't know that from the way she stood tall. Not cowering behind the much meaner looking much scarier man covered in blood with a shit eating smirk on his face.
The new people were military. Or at least they were dressed that way, but something was off. It wasn't something she could put her finger on, but it was the posture that was bothering her. They were slouched, at ease... Relaxed. There were no drill sargents around, but the relaxed vibe gave them a i'm here to start trouble vibe. Though to Julie the reason for her unease about their presentation evaded her. She wanted to ask if they were playing dress up. She bit her tongue.
"Car trouble?." There was sarcasm in her voice though the inflection came out serious in tone. There was a little bit of smoke rising from the hood from where the humvee had hit another vechile. Julie couldn't tell if it was out of commision or not without looking under the hood. There was a good six feet between them and the soldiers. As if to emphasize the old west theme a candy wrapper blew down the street between the two parties while everyone just eyed each other. "I'm Julie. This one here.... Well, i don't rightly remember his name. Took a wallop to the head."
She touched the palm of her hand to her head as if to illustrate this point. She wasn't sure why she was offering up information. Information in fact that could come back to bite them. She was a nervous talker sometimes. Filling the dead air with verbal diaherrea. "I could take a look at that thang for ya. I knows about cars and such." She offtered. The glare from the fading sun couldn't quite touch her eyes under the brim of her cowgirl hat. Her hair flew furiously in the wind.
Clouds rolled in slowly from the west. Dark clouds in a sky that was growing darker all the time. Thunder interupted from the distance. The storm coming was a ways off but it'd be here in the next 40 minutes or so she judged with a quick glance. Julie didn't exactly lower her gun, but she did turn the barrel away from any living targets slightly until someone said something. The silence between everyone was about to make her scream. As much preparation as the US government thought they had. It was really just a bunch of bluster and bullshit. Really they only had one plan of action and it was point and shoot. Turns out there were just not enough bullets in a fast enough time. They had even been desperate enough to pull in troops that had been discharged. [break][break] Camilla had been retired and living the life running a garage in Rio. Perhaps doing some things that were less than legal in a racing circuit. Two years later they were dragging her back in when the shit hit the fan. Reunited with some of her squad they were on the front lines. [break][break] Until the capitol base went down and they would find themselves on the move. One of her people had gotten separated and gone MIA. In the Process of trying to bring her soldier back they had started to bring in civilians and soldiers. At first it was voluntary but after meeting a few hostile groups. [break][break] Everyone was detained until proven otherwise sane. For the Last month they had been set up in a stadium in Texas. A Dallas cowboys arena in its glory days but now it was a locked down base of operations. Camilla did not want to be in charge of a mass operation but it was the best way to get things done. [break][break] Most soldiers were grunts and nothing better than worker bees. Things ran under heavy military procedure in the Stadium. It worked and kept the civilians safe from the dead outside. They had even gotten some power going as well as rounded up some live stock to start raising. [break][break] Today they were on a scout and supply run. The long term plan was to make it to fort Barret. Her team had picked up transmission signals from there but only static came through. They were one of four teams who's goal were to clear the roads, Gather usable supplies and detain any rogue civilians within a radius of the stadium. [break][break] Using the Humvees push guard they were ramming cars out of the road. Stopping Infront of a Police station when she saw movement. Stepping out of the vehicle she rolled around the driver door to see a man with a handgun. Raising her out weapon she would train it on the man. [break][break] A blonde would come out next and this one had a real mouth on her. It was like seeing a walking talking barbie doll in action. When the blonde produced a hand gun she would whistle and two Shepard dogs would come to stand between the soldiers. They would growl and snarl at the two Infront of them. [break][break] "I am Lieutenant Rodriguez, 43rd battalion special ops. Screaming Banshees. Under executive order 735 dash C you are here by detained under martial law. All items will be confiscated. Will You comply?" Her voice spoke out in a firm and loud tone. "The fuck you think this is Lady?" [break][break] The tall slick haired man spoke and she would nod to her guys. They would pepper him with rubber pellets. Wouldn't would but they had the desired effect and he dropped. "On your knees Barbie and drop the weapon. Deadly force is authorized." When the two dropped the weapons her men would move over and secure their hands Infront of them. [break][break] Out of the building came a small dog that barked and Camilla quirked her eyebrow. Searching Williams pockets she found his truck keys. Clicking the buttons she heard its alarm sound. "Dodson Load them in the Humvee and you take the truck. Grab the mutt we are headed home." Once everyone was secure they headed back through the city. Getting to the stadium they would pull through the gates onto the green field. The doors would seal behind them for the night.

Julie Archer [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog Things went from how do you do? To hostile really quickly. Julie wasn't even sure why. She saw the dogs. And then she thought of her own dog. Her mind was a whirling racing blur. In the excitement she forgot about Pepper. She wanted to turn and look to see if she was in the doorway that was left half open, but the idea of turning around seemed risky. As if it implied there were more people inside and this dangerous situation could get more dangerous.... "Hey now folks..." Julie started but William was gunned down in a hail of rubber. Julies eyes went wide.
Julie was stubborn and strong willed but you better believe she dropped her gun. She dropped her gun like a hot potatoe. Her hands instantly went up in the air. "Oh holy moly!" She groaned in what was almost a whimper. Her lip was quivering as she got down on her knees. The uniforms did nothing to confort her. The fake credentials did nothing to ease her mind. She thought they were going to be taken by who knows. And they were.
The door to the police station was left open. A wind blew. One of the soldiers walked over and pulled the roll of duct tape off Julie's wrist and used it to bound her hands. How do you like that for ironic. She rolled her eyes, but cast a surprisingly fierce look to Camilla.
"Don't do this. Please." She was trying to appeal to whatever humanity this woman might have left in her. She only got back a steady gaze. No answer. "Julie decided that if she wasn't going to be acknowledged she would fight. She thought she had no choice. As the man behind her started to lift her she sprang to her feet. The back of her head connected solidly with his chin and he went realing backwards. She made it two steps and the butt of a rifle to her right temple sprawled her out on her side.
The world danced away and she heard whimpering and somethingn wet was licking her face. She cracked her eyes open for a moment, but it was a struggle. "Pepper, run..." She croaned weakly and passed out. LAIKA OF THQ

There was resistance from the couple but that happened with most civilians. They had seen first hand why people were weary of strangers. Some groups were plain feral and had to be eliminated. It was a loss they tried to avoid and most of the time people gave when the right force was given. The blonde did give a feeble effort after the grease monkey went down. Soon she was incapacitated which left the dog. Some groups wouldn't care to bring in another mouth to feed but having dogs around helped people get back to a sense of normal. [break][break] "Load them up. I got the canine." Opening a pocket on her vest she would pull a few good smelling treats. After a bit of coaxing the would grab the dog up and carry it to the Humvee. Placing it in the back securely with its owner. Closing the back door she would move to the driving side. "Rolling out." She would order her guys and the dogs so they all returned to the vehicle. "Banshee Lead to Stadium. Inbound with 2 survivors, one canine. Prepare a holding cell and Decontamination. Over and out." [break][break] The Humvee would lurch forward and take them back through the city. Eventually they would pull through guarded gates in into the secure doors of the stadium. Inside Camilla rolled past housing tents and many faces. Everyone always stopped to see the return of the leader. Not that she wanted the attention but the ones that got settled here considered her and the soldiers as hero's. They were just trying to keep the simpletons from becoming more biters. [break][break] As the vehicle came to a stop soldiers would come and escort the new comers to a very cold decontamination shower. They would go through processing getting new clothing, as well as the personnel getting info on them. Towards the end they would find themselves in a housing tent along with the newly washed dog. Granted there was one bed as it was assumed the two were together. Camilla after a debriefing once the scout teams returned she would stop in on all new comers. moving through the flap she found the barbie and giant together. [break][break] "Welcome to Dallas Stadium. You will have gone through a screening and given jobs to do. Everyone here works for the good of the group. These will be your housing quarter assignments. You have been gifted rations for the week. As you work daily would will receive the coins to need to purchase things as well as your next weeks rations. Lights out when the stadium clocks reach 9 pm. You must be back to your tent or receive appropriate punishment." She would speak in a very clear and emotionless tone. "Weekly debriefs in the Stadium center once weekly. You may bring up any grievance or concern then. Enjoy your evening folks. 2 hours till lights out. Enjoy your evening." With that she would exit the tent and leave the two alone.

Julie Archer [attr="class","topprz"] Pepper the Dog All things considered, Julie was in a bad mood. She was kidnapped, showered, and examined like cattle and then was told she had a bed time. She saw from the brisk, purposeful mannor and stiff posture that this chick was a no non sense sort of gal. It didn't help matters that Julie didn't have a chance to ask a single question before the door closed on her. Her questions during decontamination were ignored as well.
What was this place some kind of cult? William had done no interjecting to her little speech. He simply sat with what looked like a scowl on his face. Julie waited a moment or two after they were alone to talk, not sure if they were being listened too. Probably that was paranoid, but she found herself in a strange environment with people she didn't know. She had no idea if the door was locked or not, but she didn't try for it.
Instead she turned to William, for all her I want to be in charge attitude, she had to admit she was lost now. She wasn't expecting this. She was thinking, biting her lip, but still not talking. Her brow was drawn down into extremem concentration. "Who the hell do they think they are?!?" She finally blurted. Pepper issued a bark from behind her in response. Julie hadn't even realized the dog was with them until now. She was so disoriented from getting hit in the head and the shock of the cold shower. She knelt and gave the dog a few pats. Pepper turned her head and stared at Julie before licking her face a few times, trying to cheer her up. Pepper could sense Julie's anxiety.
"We just gone stay here?" She asked William. She turned to level her gaze on him. She looked down at her clothes. Disgusted, not at all what she would have chose herself. She felt disheartened at the fact that even what she wore wasn't her choice anymore. Julie was thinking of escape. Though this was a big choice and she realized she didn't want to be in charge. She wanted to follow orders and get things done, but if things turned bad she didn't REALLY want that on her conscience.
"What do you think this place is? Some kinda concentration camp?" She asked. She didn't like the way those words spilled out of her mouth. People didn't just give you food and a warm bed. To which Julie just realized there was only one. She raised an eyebrow when she also realized that William was sitting on it. She stood up and walked the length of the room inspecting it. All the while she kept eying that single bed. "Ya know.... Your opinion might be helpful!" She blurted. Julie couldn't help it. She was growing more and more annoyed with his silence through this whole thing. She even stamped her foot as the last word came out.
"Fine. You're in charge. I don't want it anymore. Just say somethang." Julie was in the corner of the room looking out a small window that didn't open. She turned back to William, frightened, frustrated and feeling homesick for a home she hadn't found yet. Maybe after lights out. Maybe that's when they'd try to get out of this place. LAIKA OF THQ

Roy was your average guy. Okay, so maybe slightly, most definitely above average looking guy, but you get the point. He wasn't technically trained or particularly good at anything. He skated on his looks, because that's what worked for him. Getting the booty never hurt either. Roy had charm and a certain smoothness that bordered on being a flat out asshole, but he was good looking and got away with it.
Roy wasn't so self involved that he was unlikable. He was just the right level of obnoxious. If there is such a thing. He was surprised one day to find that it wasn't his looks that got him brought into the fold. They were going to bring him even if he looked like quasi motto. Still, he had a roof over his head, he had food. The stadium actually wasn't even that bad. Why, they took him in he wasn't sure. Everyone else that came in quickly found some job doing this or that to help keep the group going.
Roy, well.... Roy just skated. As Roy often does. He eased into the background and had been here two weeks without doing a single damn thing besides sleeping, reading and eating up the supplies. He had even put his eye on a cute little thing that might help pass the time away. Yeah, life was going to be good here. The soldier chick and her guys kept the biters out. Kept them safe. Roy put down his book and stood up in the little VIP box he was crashing in.
No one else had seemed to be using this one and he had the whole place to himself. It had a tv, that didn't work. But it also had luxery sofas and a mini fridge that someone had obviously not checked because there were snacks and drinks. Not cold mind you, but skating only carried you so far. If you wanted a cold drink you had to figure it out. And Roy wasn't about the 'figure it out' life. He stood and stretched and looked out the front facing window onto the field.
Down below he could see the girl he had been eyeing up since he got here. She was cute, tan... Kind exotic maybe? He couldn't tell her nationality, but did it matter? She had legs for days and eyes that made him feel funny in places. He wasn't used to being on his back foot when it came to the ways of courtship, but he felt that way now. Though Roy Walker would never show that. Not in a million years. He walked down to where she was, it was quite a walk this place was pretty big. And he gave her his best salesmen smile.
He was, afterall selling himself. And selling it cheap if we're being honest. This was the first time he had seen her without her sisters lingering around. He could probably crank up the charm but why risk it? Better to get her alone. "Hey, I'm Roy." He said. As if she had asked. He smiled at her. Well, it was really more of a smirk. His clothes were clean, a white shirt with a denim button up shirt haphazardly thrown over it. His jeans were gore free, because Roy didn't kill things. Others killed things for him. His shoes were work boots with the laces untied. Roy didn't give much thought to his appearance this morning, but he looked like he walked out of Vouge magazine just the same.
He could see her planting some kind of flower. His smirk widened. "You know if I had a garden. I'd put your tulips, and my tulips together." He didn't get an immediate reaction. She either didn't hear him or was trying to ignor him. Realizing he still had a can of soda in his hand from the mini fridge he handed it too her. Just to get her attention. "Do you drink soda?" He asked politely. When she did look up at him he was grinning. "Because damn girl you look soda licious."
Roy leaned on her workspace. Whatever she was working on at this little makeshift green house table was pushed aside by his elbow as he leaned cockily on it and gazed into her eyes. "Seriously though, you're not a magician are you? Because Abra-Kadam! I want to get to know you." When she walked away still without saying a word he followed her. "So I was thinking, if we have a girl.... I want to name her Gwyne. It's my grandmother's name." He said conversationally. He was following her assumingly back to her place or wherever she hung her head.
That is, afterall how these things usually went. Roy was used to silent hookups with strangers. Meet at a bar go back to the bathroom and have a little fun without ever knowing the other person's name. It's true that he still didn't know this girl's name. She hadn't offered it but if she was a firecracker he would make sure to ask. After all what else did he have too do. He figured his looks were the key to open any door he wanted. He was kind of stupid, but also just that vein sometimes.

The detianed ride back to this base of sorts reminded him of his time in the back of a squad car. He knew the routine well enough. Stay quiet, dont answer questions because you dont rat on your family. The processing took ages but even without questions these people seemed to have power enough to pull long lost info. [break][break] They took finger prints after very thorough decomtamination and physical exams. Not that william cared to have some lady nurses looking him over. If anything he was able to get some basic info by flirting with the girl doing his intake paper work. After the fact he brought to a decently large military grade green tent. [break][break] There were semi opaque windows that didnt open. It let a little ambiet light in. The girl whom did his intake left him pouch of token coins. There were coins for the commisary and then coins for the food rationing center. Two pouches were left for himself and the blonde whom came in with him. Sitting on the bed as he was left alone. [break][break] It wasnt long before barbie wasnt delivered to him. Followed by the soldier whom had been so kind to 'rescue' them. After she left he would just sit there. The Leather fools jacket still graced his shoulders. It was against protocol but William had his way with these girls. [break][break] His vacant gaze moved to stare at the blonde as she went on and on. Renting and raving about this as that. Sure this wasnt ideal but on a side not atleast they would sleep well for a day or two. When she finally stopped and said he was in charge he just let a deep breath escape. "Listen Boss, You was knocked out on the way in. Counted atleast 2 dozen soldiers, handful of cops. Three exits on this level of the field are heavily gaurded." [break][break] He spoke in a low voice as he started to explain things. Sure his silence was one of his flaws but he made up for it with observation. "Assuming the upper stadium seating exits are sealed or gaurded as well. Wont know till we start to watch the routine. Best chance we got is to chill and just let them call the shots." [break][break] Standing he would move over to the counter wth the pouches of coins. Grabbing one he moved over to Julie. "For now we just keep our heads down Boss. Spend their coin and stock supplies till we can blow this joint." He spoke with a bit of a smirk. "Left or Right side of the bed sweetcheeks?"
