After several hours between the two of them, the cloudiness outside had turned into a clear, if not slightly chilly night, the moon shining brightly above. Outside, Kate - now awake, still entangled with Pete - could see that the moonlight outside had cast everything in a gleaming pale of white light. It looked almost ethereal but she could still hear the faint moanings of walkers outside. Sitting up, she tried not to wake Pete up, and managed to scoot herself over towards the door. Taking a quick look out, she could see a few walkers outside, thankfully a lot fewer than there had been. Creeping her way back over to him, Kate started shaking Pete to get him awake. "Pete, wake up," she whispered, "wake up, Pete..."

Pete didn't want to wake up. He didn't want to be pulled from the safety of his dream. He hated the morning. Because that meant that you had to come back to reality. Back to almost dying every day.
It wasn't morning it was the middle of the night. Pete looked around and saw the door open. He was immediately on his feet and on guard, but he realized what was happening. He didn't speak. He nodded and grabbed a bag from the shelf and stuffed a few bottles of water in it from behind the counter. Then he pulled his shirt on along with his pants and sneakers and stepped outside.
The place was overrun. Thankfully they could escape the numbers were spread out, but now there could be teeth lurking in every gift shop, every fun house. You could die at any moment here. The thrill rides were only thrilling because they were survivalble. Pete didn't have to run the numbers in his head to know that Fantasticland was lost. He picked up his pirate sword and stuffed it into his belt and jogged out into the night, Kate right behind him.

Quickly getting dressed, Kate could hear the faint sounds of walkers outside and knew they'd have to go outside soon. That part she didn't mind; it was not seeing anything bad happen to Pete. For the first time in her lift, she had found someone who saw her as her, not as some slab of meat whose services they wanted but as someone special, an individual. It made her felt good and she didn't want anything to happen to them....but she also knew, from bitter experience, that life didn't give you anything. You had to take it.
As she checked to make sure she had everything, Kate looked over and saw Pete getting dressed and grabbing some supplies. Grabbing her sword, she held it and knew it was time to go. Grabbing a small bag of supplies herself, she hefted it over her shoulder, gave the place one last winsome look and followed Pete outside, ready for whatever future lay ahead.
